Description
Starting from the outside track, a half volt is ridden first. On the middle line, the horse is then briefly brought into a straight line and repositioned. A full volt is then performed on the other hand. Another half volt on the first hand leads back to the starting point of the exercise, so that a total of eight is achieved. It is also possible to ride several eights in a row.
Tips and hints
Both parts of the eight should be the same size and ridden over the entire width of the arena. Both voltes are to be ridden consistently to the end and care must be taken to maintain an even pace. The changes of direction are to be smooth, so that no corners are created.Training goal
This exercise causes a gymnastic movement of the horse. Especially the longitudinal bend can be improved. The bending stretches the muscles on the outside and activates the muscles on the inside. The multiple change of position and bending also promotes flexibility.
